Summer Reading Program

 Library Fun for Everyone!

The Summer Reading Program has a variety of events and activities for babies, children, teens, adults & all ages each year in June and July. Story times, art days, LEGO™ Clubs, movie nights, and guest speakers are hosted at the library. You choose where to take the reading challenges and family adventures you can complete outside the library!

This year, we are excited for our Library Summer Music, sponsored by Lindsborg Arts Council. The musical fun starts with Thad Beach and the Musical Chair on Saturday, June 2 @ 1:30 PM where musician and songwriter Thad Beach will transform a common wooden chair into a musical accompaniment to his original creations and traditional songs. His concerts provide lots of opportunities to participate and he demonstrates a variety of musical instruments. Lots of fun for all ages!

Wednesday, June 27 @ 1:30 PM students grade 5-12 are invited to participate in a Songwriting Worship with Ann Zimmerman, focusing on lyric writing, applying captivating language to a familiar tune, and painting pictures for the listener. Space is limited, so sign up at the Library!

Singer and Songwriter Ann Zimmerman sings her native prairie into universal language and works magic from songs of life on the windy plains. Her songs – winners of the Wildflower! Festival, Great American Song, and the Just Plain Folks national song contests – tell surprising stories and paint vivid portraits. All ages are welcome to attend her concert Wednesday, June 27 @ 7 PM at the Library.

Didgeridoo Down Under will be at the Library Friday, July 13 @ 5 PM to present the Aussie Funk Jam, a one-of-a-kind musical and cultural experience. The didgeridoo is and Australian Aboriginal instrument with a funky, fresh sound that’s as exotic as its name. In this upbeat workshop, participants learn to play the “didge” with beginner PVC didgeridoos. For ages 8 & up (including adults); participation limited to 40 individuals.

Our Movie Nights go musical this summer! Come to the Library for big screen adventures with plenty of singing in these G or PG rated movies, Mondays @ 7 PM. This summer the Library will be showing Chipwrecked June 11, Trolls June 25, The Greatest Showman July 9 and Rio July 23. Check out www.imdb.com for movie summaries, parental guidelines, and more!

Rolling Hills Zoo visits the Library, bringing the Zoo to You on Wednesday, July 18 @ 4 PM and Thursday, July 19 @ 4PM. A yearly favorite, we will both learn about animals and see some as well! Both sessions will be the same presentation, so choose to attend one that best suits your schedule. All ages are welcome to attend!
